Cardiac Services BC supports leading research and helps put findings into action to improve patient care and the BC health system.
We focus on population-level health services research that informs provincial, policy, practice, and care for government, health care providers, and people living with cardiac conditions.
BC is emerging as a global leader in heart health research, carried out in hospitals, research institutes and universities both in the province and across Canada. Cardiac Services BC contributes to research by:
- Leading an annual embedded health systems fellowship program for PhD and postdoctoral students
- Contributing data from the CSBC Registry to research projects
- Providing a health system perspective to the design of cardiac research projects
- Facilitating networks of system partners to support effective collaboration
- Leading, advising on, and implementing knowledge mobilization activities to translate relevant research findings into policy, practice, and education
As a provincial organization, Cardiac Services BC supports researchers studying significant areas of heart health and cardiac care.
We bring a perspective to our research partners’ initiatives that ensure projects aim for evidence-informed improvement at the health-system level. We also advocate for the study of BC-specific cardiac care issues.
Cardiac Services BC also has an important role to play in the translation of research knowledge into practice to through provincial policy, professional development for clinical teams, and patient and family education. We are able to bring together relevant research findings with our evaluation of the BC environment to implement best practices and drive the adoption of current, evidence based care.
